Sussex County EMS operates as a non-transporting EMS agency providing paramedic services to the lower Delaware region. Our Critical Incident Stress Management team provides trained, certified services to the over 100 staff and the community they serve.

Our CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) Team is available 24/7 and comprised of eight paramedics from each of our four operational shifts, a CISM trained chaplain, a network of mental health professionals, and department administrative oversight.

We follow the ICISF model of crisis intervention and response.

WHO WE ARE

The SCEMS CISM Team's purpose is to provide a network of trained "peer debriefers" to help emergency respondes cope with stressful situations, and, through techniques utilized in the CISM realm, improve and enrich the mental health and functional wellbeing of the department and employees as a whole.

The mission of the team is to assist peers with stresses caused by professional and/or personal events and help them continue to be a productive members of our department and community.

Our motto is simple- "SCEMS:" Sympathetic, Compassionate, Empathetic, Mindful, and Supporting- All of these being ideals that our team comprises in their work and as traits of our individual team members.
